Park and Ride advert

Portsmouth City Council
Portsmouth City Council wanted to promote their Park & Ride campaign and show that the city is easy to navigate, especially when you travel sustainably.

We were asked to create three videos for Portsmouth City Council’s PR3 Campaign, one of which to be advertised on Sky TV and Video on Demand. The brief was to show different scenarios of how the public could use the service whilst promoting the range of attractions Portsmouth has to offer.

How we helped

Portsmouth is a vibrant and exciting city so we headed out on a sunny day to capture it in all its glory.

We set up different scenarios including a mum and her two children meeting grandparents and using the Portsmouth Park and Ride 3 service. We also captured the grandparents taking the children around the city and visiting attractions including Clarence Pier, Southsea Castle, Southsea Beach and Blue Reef Aquarium, before returning to the P&R.

After capturing plenty of footage, we headed back to the studio where our editors worked their magic. They featured all filmed locations and selected engaging music to match the tone of the videos whilst ensuring the final edits met advertising standards.

TV advertising

We’re no stranger to having our client’s videos on TV so when the council requested this as part of the deliverables we were more than happy to do this on their behalf.

Our experience with Clearcast means we know the steps needed to get approval from script and substantiation to final submission.

It was important not to think of the video as just visuals; music, voice over and general sound design all had to be within a certain limit, we also had to make sure certain elements were within legal limit and onscreen for the right amount of time.

Our biggest challenge when doing things like this was keeping our creative intent while staying within Clearcast guidelines. The video not only conforms to the standard of Clearcast but also has storytelling with heart at the forefront.

The result

We delivered three videos, social cuts, and stills from the video towards the PR3 campaign. These are being used on the council’s website and being shown on Sky TV and Video on Demand. Although just part of the campaign, the video reached 33,000 households through SkyAdSmart and the Park and Ride service saw a 25% increase in revenue compared to the previous year.
