Communities Vision project

Wokingham Borough Council
Wokingham Borough Council, along with others who make up the Communities Vision steering group, wanted to create a video that translated their different views and laid out the key ambitions for the Community Vision 2035.

We worked closely with Wokingham Borough Council and the steering group to distill their ideas into a script that represented the thoughts and values of a diverse range of voices in the borough.

The video was aimed at the residents of Wokingham borough and the organisations, charities and businesses that work within the borough.

How we helped

We worked with the Communities Vision steering group made up of residents, community groups, organisations, businesses and Wokingham Borough Council. The steering group consulted with people across the borough to help shape the Community vision 2035 across 6 key ambitions.

Our role on the project was to create the concept for the video, produce the script and handle logistics for bringing the community together to appear on camera. We then handled all aspects of the shoots themselves and the editing process.

Filming and editing

We wanted to ensure we represented the different districts within the borough of Wokingham. Therefore we liaised with venues and areas across the districts to be as inclusive with our filming locations as possible.

The nature of filming meant that we had to be quite portable in our approach. We also wanted to demonstrate the beauty and diverse landscapes across the borough by using drone footage. This gave the film a cinematic and dynamic feel.

Alongside the video standing alone as a compelling, thought provoking piece, we were also tasked with segmenting the content into six short clips promoting each ambition, so it was important that we coined a style that could easily allow for this. Graphics became an important element in uniforming and branding the video. Music was an important element in driving the content across the ambitions and demonstrating the diverse nature of community.

The impact

99 organisations had input across the borough in the Communities Vision and the ambitions. There were just over 500 online survey responses from residents and they’ve received over 500 pledges. The video has been screened as part of 34 targeted events to audiences over 3,500 people.

Working with Millstream Productions has been an exceptional experience from start to finish. They took my brief, interpreted it with real insight, and brought it to life in a way that felt both true to my vision and incredibly engaging. Their professionalism, attention to detail, steer and ability to capture the essence of what we were trying to communicate made the whole process seamless and enjoyable.
