Our Heroes

Diabetes Research and Wellness Foundation
We were asked by the Diabetes Research and Wellness Foundation (DRWF) to produce an Impact Film to help promote the work they do, create awareness and raise important funds.

The film launched 14th November 2022: World Diabetes Day.

The Brief

Connection is key

The foundation, based in Havant, funds research in order to help those living with diabetes. It was important that we produced a film that would connect with the audience and convey real life stories of those living with diabetes. Filming took us to Guildford, Oxford and Birmingham where we spoke to Katie, Claire and Ann who all had incredible stories to tell.

Real lives, real stories

Capturing the importance of the work
We produced a film that tugs at the heartstrings. From Katie talking about her young son Eddie, who was diagnosed with diabetes earlier in 2022, to the help both Claire and Ann received and the work DRWF have funded to help them both through their journey of having diabetes. Warning, you’ll need a box of tissues when you watch the film!

The research

Using animation to show the science

We filmed Professor Paul Johnson, Director of Oxford Islet Isolation and Islet Transparent Programmes, speaking to camera about the process of an Islet transplant. We used animation to show the audience a visualisation of Ann’s transplant stages. The animation added another dimension to the video and helped show the science which would otherwise be difficult.

The impact

Funding to find the cure

The key objective for this film was to evoke emotion and encourage the audience to set up regular donations to allow them to continue funding research that could one day find the cure. The piece will also be used to help generate donations throughout 2023, beyond their World Diabetes Day launch.
You have all done an incredible job with this film. You brought our vision to life and we felt you did that brilliantly. Your communication and turnaround times have been quite simply incredible. It’s been an absolute delight working with you – we really cannot thank you enough.
